Whether this is your first year on the Oklahoma River or you’re returning for another exciting year of competition, the 2012 OCU Head of the Oklahoma will be a truly unique and thrilling regatta. We welcome you to our city and hope you enjoy your stay. You’ll find the Oklahoma City community to be a passionate supporter of rowing and rowing athletes.

Register for the Head of the Oklahoma at RegattaCentral.com. Athlete race packets may also be downloaded from Regatta Central. All athletes must complete a USRowing waiver.
2.5 Mile Rowing Head Races
Oklahoma City University’s Head of the Oklahoma features a 2.5 mile head race course on the Oklahoma River near downtown OKC. Competitors will race in a counter-clockwise pattern with the starting line at the west end of the basin. Crews will start two at a time, vying for position as they go through a series of turns and bridges and ending with a straightaway to the finish line. The head races will include events for collegiate, master and junior rowers in single, doubles, pairs, fours, quads and eights. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event. The head race is also the qualifier for the 500 meter OGE NightSprints.
4000m & 200m Kayak Races
Oklahoma City University’s Head of the Oklahoma includes a 4000m and 200m kayak race on the Oklahoma River near downtown OKC. Competitors will race in a counter-clockwise pattern with the starting line at the west end of the basin for the 4000m race Saturday afternoon, with the 200m super sprint taking place under stadium lights Saturday night. Additionally, another 4000m race is scheduled for Sunday morning, giving participants a total of three races. Participants will start two at a time, vying for position as they go through a series of turns and bridges and ending with a straightaway to the finish line. The distance race will include events for men and women in the K1. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in each event. Racers will advance to heats and finals for the 200m OGE NightSprints.
OGE NightSprints
The OGE NightSprints return to the Oklahoma River with adrenaline fueled super sprints under the lights. The excitement begins Friday evening with the OKC RIVERSPORT Corporate Rowing League and Dragon Boat League teams racing, as well as rowers from around the world taking part in the USA Rowing World Challenge sprint at night. The excitement continues Saturday, with more USA Rowing World Challenge sprinting actions. And, Saturday night sprints will feature the masters, junior and collegiate night racing from the OCU Head of the Oklahoma. The 200m kayak super sprints will also take place Saturday night.
