OCU Head of the Oklahoma
The Oklahoma City University Head of the Oklahoma returns to the Boathouse District on the Oklahoma River, October 5-6, 2013, and includes all the excitement you’ve come to expect from Oklahoma’s premier regatta.
The OCU Head of the Oklahoma includes 2.5 mile head racing during the day and 500m OGE NightSprints Saturday evening. This will be the first time for OGE NightSprints to be held under the permanent lights recently installed on the Oklahoma River making it the only permanently lighted race course in the world. Events include collegiate, masters, and junior rowing as well as kayak and dragon boat racing. Registration for the 2013 race opens August 1 on Regatta Central. Master rowers from across the nation will race at the second annual USRowing Master National Head Race Championships, help for the first time as part of the Oklahoma Regatta Festival.
The Oklahoma Regatta Festival includes several race events and will begin with the 2013 OKC Canoe Marathon Invitational on Wednesday, October 2. Racing continues with OGE NightSprints featuring Corporate Rowing and Dragon Boat League racing on Thursday and Friday, and the Oklahoma Regatta Run on Saturday morning. Festival activities include live music, great food, the Olympic Experience, a children’s area and inflatable zone. Friday and Saturday evening end with athletes and spectators enjoying fireworks over the river.
